Ramanui Lw is an event photographer based in Tahiti, French Polynesia, since 2020. His lens has covered 27 cultural events, 11 weddings and 5 Polynesian islands — Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, Huahine and beyond. A specialist in Polynesian cultural ceremonies (Heiva, Manohiva, Ori Hei), he documents Tahitian identity through a cinematic, intimate approach.

Photography is first and foremost an encounter: a moment, an emotion, a story that deserves to be told with honesty. Through my lens, I seek to capture what is authentic, spontaneous and deeply human.

Born in Bora Bora, I grew up in a culture where every moment carries weight, where emotions are lived intensely and where stories are passed on. That sensibility — connection, sharing and respect for lived moments — deeply shapes the way I photograph.

My eye is drawn to that bond: with nature, with light, with others. To photograph, for me, is to feel before capturing — to let the moment exist so its truth can emerge. More than a picture, I create images that carry a memory, an emotion, a presence.

Because some moments cannot be explained — they are lived… and then told.
